I tallied every 49th overall pick in the draft to see which team has had that pick most often. Spoiler: it's not the 49ers.

With the draft now behind us, I thought it would be interesting to see which team has had the most overall 49th picks. I chose 49 since it's the only number that is also an NFL team. I started with the first draft after the 49ers joined the NFL, which of course was...1950. The 49ers actually had the 49th pick in that draft. They are tied for second in 49th overall picks, along with the Colts; both teams trail the Bears. Below are the tallies for each team. Yes, I am very bored.

Some interesting notes:

• The 49ers have picked 49th overall in 6.9% of drafts they've been in. Nice.

• No Hall of Famer has ever been drafter 49th overall, although 49ers legend Roger Craig was the 49th pick in 1983.

• Seven teams have never picked 49th overall: Broncos, Jaguars, Packers, Panthers, Ravens (I guess if you consider the Ravens' lineage the continuation of the original Browns, then the new Browns would be here instead), Saints, and Texans.

• The Oilers picked 49th overall twice in a row, but the Titans never have.

• The 49ers technically joined the league in 1949, but didn't partake in that season's draft since it took place in 1948. The 49th overall pick in that draft went to the Chicago Bears.
