The NBA media focuses on like 4 teams and 10 players all year and then gets upset that those teams/players aren't going to be in the finals. They complain about the big teams/stars being out and say fans aren't going to watch because the relative unknowns are the only ones left
This only happens because NBA media sucks at covering their own sport. Speaking specifically about the Suns, the storylines are practically spoon-fed to them and all year all they've done is down-play and ignore rather than hype up.
They could've talked about the team going from 20 wins to 2nd best team in just 2 years. About Booker going from the bottom to the top, proving the doubters wrong, and trying to become legendary for Kobe. They could've focused Cam Payne going from out of the league to 6th man for a .700 team or hyped up how the bubble changed our culture.
They could've spoken about how James Jones came out of nowhere to become an excellent GM or how Monty is proving his old doubters wrong. They could've talked about Ayton's humility and huge improvement throughout the year or Bridges being a winning role player everywhere on the court
Instead of all that, they just talked about CP3 because that's all they knew. And rather than doubting a team for their improbable run, they could've hyped it up more.
They just wanted to focus on big names and popular teams and were unprepared that others might have success so now a ton are either scrambling or complaining about the matchups and how "they're bad for the NBA."
Why does the NBA media do this? No other league does it. When KC and Mahomes came out of nowhere it was all about hyping them up, not downplaying or ignoring them
Such a large portion of NBA media just sucks at their job
