On July 4, 1976, Eagles head coach Dick Vermeil was annoyed that music and fireworks were distracting him from watching film. When told the noise was due to the U.S. celebrating its 200th birthday (the Bicentennial), Vermeil replied, "I don't care whose birthday it is. I want those bands to stop."
