Jordan made a point in interviews to note that he and Lue were the team's only players who had won titles. The Post's Michael Leahy wrote that Jordan had " an avuncular affection" for Lue, that he would "rub the top of Lue's head, his hand lingering there." Lue was also willing to fight back against Jordan's ferocity, " a quality that Jordan long had admired in two other guards he'd played with," Leahy wrote: "John Paxson and Steve Kerr."
"He would say something to Mike, but it wasn't like he was yelling at him," Haywood said. "He'd just get his point across. And the way he did it, he might be joking, but there was still a little bit of truth to what he said. He did a great job of communicating with stars that seemed bigger than life, even back then.
