Welcome to the week 10 Official r/NFL Power Rankings! Usually these rankings are more solidified by this time, but the writers thought a midseason upset extravaganza would boost ratings. Last week featured losses to 6 top ten teams. This week not only had 5 upsets, but 4 of those were from the top ten, with 2 losing to bottom ten teams. Special shoutout to the Detroit Lions for their first (half) win of the season, progress comes in small steps. Discuss the parity! 32/32 reporting

---|---|---|---|---|---|
1. | Titans | +2 | 8-2 | The Titans were able to push their win streak to six after a home win against the Saints for the franchise's 200th win as the Titans. Due to injury the Titans have played more people in games than any other team in the NFL, have had the toughest schedule to this point, but are positioned with the NFL’s easiest remaining schedule. Lost in all of this is some great quarterback play by Ryan Tannehill who has played with a depleted roster, bad o-line play and a stomach bug on Sunday against the Saints. | |
2. | Packers | +3 | 8-2 | Kevin King was the laughing stock of the league last year, and now he's faced Tyreek Hill and DK Metcalf in consecutive weeks and didn't get torched a single time. Has he improved, or has having actual good linebackers helped the rest of the coverage play to their full potential? Probably a combination of both. I suppose this is why Joe Barry gets paid the big bucks. | |
3. | Cardinals | -2 | 8-2 | We played a third string QB against a Carolina Panthers team with Cam Newton on it. | |
4. | Cowboys | +3 | 7-2 | 10 PBUs. 3 Picks. 2 Sacks. 1 combined third or fourth down conversion allowed. 3.8 yards per pass attempt allowed. 37% completion percentage allowed. This might have been the most dominant defensive performance by Dallas in a decade or more. Add in the special teams making big plays and the offense doing basically whatever they want, and I think that the mental speed bump the Cowboys hit last week is a thing of the past. | |
5. | Bills | +3 | 6-3 | How do you respond to an embarrassing loss to one of the worst teams in football? Play another one of the worst teams in football and just relentlessly beat them. Getting rookie Spencer Brown back was huge for this offensive line, giving Josh Allen actual time in the pocket, and clearing some space for an effective running game. Stefon Diggs had his biggest game of the year, Gabriel Davis had over 100 yards, and Matt Breida impressed in his first real game action as a Bill. The defense dominated as well, with each of the five starting DBs getting a takeaway. Now, the Bills head into a four game stretch that will serve as their biggest test yet, with Indianapolis, New Orleans, New England, and Tampa Bay all playing varying degrees of solid football right now. Buckle up BillsMafia, this is where we see if this team is really back to form. | |
6. | Buccaneers | -4 | 6-3 | Here's your homework assignment for the week: stop looking at Devin White's box scores. Throw on the All-22. Bring a barf bag. You're going to need it. The Bucs' woes have been plentiful the last two games, but nothing quite stands out like Devin White's tape. Missed tackles, poor coverage skills, and the play recognition of a glaucomic quokka. Something's wrong in Tampa when the team can't beat Trevor Siemian or Taylor Heinicke in back-to-back weeks. They'll play the Giants in Tampa this week. The win is a must to snap the losing streak. | |
7. | Rams | -3 | 7-3 | As the Rams limp into the bye to contemplate the last two weeks, they’ve come to a crossroads. Are these recent losses uncharacteristic due to penalties, drops, and ugly turnovers, or are they part of their identity as soft? They’ve done a great job of talent-acquisition but so far it hasn’t totally equated to team-building. Still, 7-3 isn’t terrible, and McVay promises to come out swinging week 12. | |
8. | Patriots | +3 | 6-4 | The game started out looking like it was going to be a very long afternoon for the Patriots, that quickly changed. The Patriots put a spanking to the Browns. With a physical running game and Jones with 3 TDs, the Patriots offense was running crisply. The Defense figured it out after the first series and shut the Browns down completely. The Patriots now have a winning record for the first time this season, a +98 points differential (required disclosure: +60 against the Jets), and are getting hot. Can't look past the Thursday Falcons at the mega run against the Titans, Colts, and Double Bills coming up. Starting the season in a 1-3 hole, the Pats are only peeking out now. | |
9. | Ravens | -3 | 6-3 | What happened dawg? They left the middle of the field wide open and they never hit it. A loss that was worse than the box score stated, with the refs aiding a garbage time touchdown to Mark Andrews. This team needs to stop running the ball so much, throw to the middle of the field, and tell Greg Roman the tales of Cam Cameron. On a side note: Greg Roman has done a good job with this offense the past two years, but this first half play-calling has been absolutely frustrating and Lamar has been somewhat out of sync with the receivers. This offense really looks out of sorts and it seems like the team is quite unprepared and impatient, because the run game will probably never get into rhythm this season. | |
10. | Chiefs | +5 | 6-4 | Now THAT was the Chiefs team from the last few years. A defense that passed the sniff test coupled with a Patrick Mahomes who was calmer in the pocket and taking checkdowns unlocked the true potential of this team, and it is a Top 5 team in the league. The question remains, will this continue? The Chiefs will have a big test this week against Dallas that should be a great measuring stick game. | |
11. | Chargers | -2 | 5-4 | Not much to describe this game beyond this...feeling. Just the feeling that something was just off the whole time. The Chargers just simply didn't do enough and couldn't make the plays when it mattered. For a team with playoff aspirations in a highly competitive division, 'almost' will not be enough. The Chargers have now dropped three of their last four games and will now prep to host the Pittsburgh TIE Fighters on Sunday night. On a much better note, rookie RB Larry Rountree III scored his first NFL touchdown and he was ready. | |
12. | Saints | +1 | 5-4 | Like the Saints, the Titans are overcoming adversity with the injuries they've endured. Unlike the Saints, the Titans got to play against Trevor Siemian this week. It was enough to make Ryan Tannehill sick. The last time Trevor Siemian started and finished a game and won, Coco was #1 at the box office and Rockstar by Post Malone was top of the Billboard 100. The defense put up another good, but futile, effort. | |
13. | Browns | -3 | 5-5 | Last week this ranker proposed the question if the AFC North was the best division in the entire NFL. Things have changed in the last seven days. Things were so bad CBS swapped games out for most of the country. If only they could have done so in the Cleveland area. The Browns will face Detroit next week in what is sure to turn into something resembling a football game. We think. | |
14. | Bengals | +2 | 5-4 | The Bengals, who have been bad for the last two weeks, were the most impressive team in the AFC North this week simply by not playing. Through 10 weeks still no one knows the answer to the question, "Is anyone in the AFC North actually good?" | |
15. | Raiders | -3 | 5-4 | There were very little positives this week as the Raiders put up their worst game of the year. AJ Cole made one hell of a play, though, lowering his shoulder into the punt returner and causing a fumble. At least through the two decades of being awful the Raiders have always seemed to have a good punter. Sure would be nice to have a good team surrounding him though. Maybe the team will get things back together and piece together some wins in the coming weeks to stay in playoff contention. Unlikely though. | |
16. | Colts | +1 | 5-5 | Ignore the ugly win. Ignore how the offense went dormant for three quarters. Ignore the bizarre play-calling and Wentz's left-handed throws. The only thing that matters is that the Colts won. They're now back at .500, a huge boost to morale after starting the season 0-3. They're still in the thick of the playoff race. They're still alive. As Coach Reich said in his post-game press conference: "No one in the AFC is pulling away, why can’t it be us?" | |
17. | Steelers | -3 | 5-3-1 | In 2017, the Steelers played a critical role in achieving the perfect 0-16 season for the Browns. Pittsburgh again had a chance to make history and help the Lions on their twisted quest to go defeated again and be the inaugural 0-17 team, but...decided not to. There's nothing insightful to say about this matchup as it was infuriating. Everyone in this subreddit is dumber for having watched this game, I award neither team any wins, and if there were a merciful God, he would not have subjected anyone to that shitshow. | |
18. | Vikings | +2 | 4-5 | Turns out good things happen when targeting Justin Jefferson, who put up 143 yards on more targets than his last two games combined. Meanwhile, despite being down Patrick Peterson, Danielle Hunter, Michael Pierce, Anthony Barr and Harrison Smith, Mike Zimmer's defense held Justin Herbert to 20/34 for 171 net yards, 1 TD and 1 INT. | |
19. | 49ers | +2 | 4-5 | The 49ers delivered a physical and dominating performance on MNF, running all over the Rams en route to a 31-10 victory. The team looks ahead to the Jaguars next week with a chance to move back to .500. | |
20. | Panthers | +4 | 5-5 | •hé’sßAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK• | |
21. | Broncos | -3 | 5-5 | In a game where the Broncos could've put themselves into serious playoff contention, they proceeded to lay an egg and get embarrassed in all three phases at home. Now, entering their bye, it looks as if they'll be limping along to the glue factory awaiting them after Week 18. | |
22. | Eagles | +3 | 4-6 | Any win is good. A convincing win is better. Soundly beating a team that your rival recently lost to, by almost the same score, is priceless. | |
23. | Seahawks | -4 | 3-6 | I can't believe I'm saying this, but Russell Wilson was not ready! It was a truly anemic showing from the Seahawks offense. Speaking if the Seahawks offense, they are currently tied with the Houston Texans for the highest punt percentage in the league. The defense actually did ok, holding Aaron Rodgers and the Packers without a first half touchdown before conceding 2 in the fourth quarter. Oh and Jamal Adams got an interception! Take that nerds!! This team is not very good and it is probably time for a coaching shakeup. | |
24. | Falcons | -2 | 4-5 | De'Vondre Campbell felt like nothing more than a hair above average after a few seasons with the Falcons. This year he's thankful for a defensive scheme that finally plays to his strengths. That very scheme he bashed manhandled Atlanta, holding them to a single Koo field goal. Is there some sort of curse that travels throughout the stadium, only lifting when players and coaches are lucky enough to be fired or not retained? Maybe Arthur Blank has a Ouija board burning hobby. At least Kyle Pitts had a record day, accountable for over 50%!! of Matt Ryan's passing yards. Despite Mike McCarthy going full online Madden with the play calling and putting up 40+, CB AJ Terrell has yet to give up 100 total yards through eight starts. | |
25. | Bears | -2 | 3-6 | The Nagy Bears have never won a game coming out of a bye week, meaning that if the Bears slip in the power rankings this week it is pretty understandable. | |
26. | Washington FT | +1 | 3-6 | WFT astoundingly put together their best effort of the season in all three phases of the game for a massive upset at home against Tampa Bay. It's too little too late for this season to mean anything but still encouraging to see the defense getting stops and creating turnovers, the offense moving and converting in the red-zone and THE KICKER MAKING KICKS! This is the team we hoped we'd see during the off-season hype and while it was fun, the win still rings a little hollow in an already lost season but maybe now at least they have something to build off of going forward. | |
27. | Giants | -1 | 3-6 | Every team in the NFC East other than the Giants won this week. Luckily, the Cowboys winning actually helps us with our wildcard seed chances. In some twist of fate, many Giants fans found themselves rooting for one of the easiest teams to hate this weekend. On to Tampa, the Giants still have a lot to prove if they want to come anywhere close to a playoff berth. Winning against the Bucs won't be easy, despite their recent struggles. Nate Solder and co. need to do a better job of blocking for Danny Dimes .Saquon Barkley coming back would be huge for taking pressure off our young QB as well. Brady looked off last week, so the defense really needs to step it up and pressure him into bad decisions if we're to have a legitimate shot here. Rest assured, the Giants will give us all cardiac palpitations no matter what the final score is. As DJ continues to grow, he's been playing arguably his best football these past few weeks. Did you make it this far into the blurb? You should read the first letter of each sentence, if you'd like a secret message from yours truly. | |
28. | Dolphins | +2 | 3-7 | Thursday Night, Prime Time, against the Ravens, 7.5 point dogs. It sounds like a recipe for the Dolphins to fall apart, and yet the only thing that looks like it fell apart was Lamar Jackson's MVP candidacy. Flores and Co. led a ridiculously aggressive defensive game plan that sent each of their young safety duo Jevon Holland and Brandon Jones at the QB more than any other defensive back in any game this season. | |
29. | Jaguars | -1 | 2-7 | Dude we suuuuuck. Sure, we put together some decent defense. Sure, we were in position to actually win in the closing moments of the game. But there's nothing more quintessentially Jaguars than falling 3 scores behind seemingly instantly, somehow manage to claw back, only to flub it in the final seconds. The team seems to know how to play football (occasionally,) but they certainly don't know how to win games. | |
30. | Jets | -1 | 2-7 | Well it was a fun couple weeks of memes about Mike White, but the Jets will now return to the important work of developing their rookie QB. Jets fans have to hope that Zach will be able to come back stronger after watching from the sidelines these past few weeks. The Jets have actually faced the toughest schedule in the league based on winning percentage, but have the second easiest remaining schedule. Between that fact and the Jets leading the league in rookie snaps, there's reason for optimism that the Jets will look a bit better in the final 8 games. | |
31. | Lions | -- | 0-8-1 | Two weeks straight without a loss, thanks to an ugly game that no one wanted to win. Positives: Lions ran at will in the first 3 quarters (229 yards total), forced three turnovers, and consistently put the offense in a position to win the game. Negatives: They still couldn't win the game. Even though the Lions ground game was dominant, the passing game had no legs to stand on. Once the Steelers sold out to stop the run, the offense stopped. A missed field goal and missed extra point let this one drift into overtime, but that was just a 10 min reflection of the game as a whole. It's not a loss, the Lions are baby stepping towards that first W. | |
32. | Texans | -- | 1-8 | The bye week was a great time for Texans fans to watch some other teams play football and to forget for a moment what an embarrassment our organization is. |
