If the bar is raised to 60% of defensive snaps, they are 8-2 when he meets the bar and 0-5-1 when he doesn’t.
He has 21.5 sacks. The Steelers as a whole have 52 sacks (currently). He has a whopping 40% of their sack production, not to mention all the pressures and hits he’s racking up.
If that’s not the definition of an MVP, I’m really not sure what is (other than the best quarterback on a playoff team hurr durr). If one player can single-handedly alter the outcome of games that much, they are the most valuable player in the league.
Tl;dr TJ Watt should be getting MVP votes (and possibly the award).
Unfortunately he won’t because people value the playoffs too highly. And what’s funny is that he’ll get shafted of the award just like how JJ was shafted in 2014, by the same QB too.
