Grizzlies sideline reporter Rob Fischer takes to Twitter to argue that Jordan Poole should be suspended for taking 8 steps away from the bench after Gary Payton II’s injury.

Original tweet: Thinking back on G2 and Dillon Brooks Flagrant 2… Warriors players left bench, including Jordan Poole, while coaches were actively trying to get them back. Wonder if that is being looked at. We saw @jarenjacksonjr suspended for same thing at @nyknicks

The rules state that any player who leaves a bench during an altercation will receive a suspension. Poole took a few steps onto the court after the foul during a dead ball. The problem with applying this to the current situation is that there was no altercation, in my opinion at least. This opinion was shared by several members of the media who pushed back on Fischer’s comments.

John Hollinger responded saying he would be shocked if there was a suspension, Fischer replies “What about 8 steps? He got close to the basket and a coach was trying to get him back. Asking for a friend.”

Hollinger responds to this by saying there was no altercation, to which Fischer says “You are not the decider!!!

Warriors reporter Jason Dumas responds: “The rule is that you can’t leave the bench during an altercation. Not that you can’t to check on an injured teammate. I feel like you know this and it’s just a tweet in bad faith.

Several other media members responded to Fischer’s tweet saying there was no altercation and that he’s just reaching.
