What’s are some notable bad trades that were made by well-renowned front offices?

A lot of people point to the Harden trade as Sam Presti’s biggest blunder, but I always thought his big trade at the 2011 trade deadline was pretty bad:

On February 24, 2011, the Thunder traded Jeff Green, Nenad Krstić and a 2012 first round pick to the Boston Celtics for Kendrick Perkins and Nate Robinson.

Perkins was credited as being an important veteran presence in the locker room that helped the Thunder navigate their first few deep playoff runs. However, the Thunder also acquired Derek Fisher off waivers the following year, and he proved to have a more positive impact on the court on top of the championship experience he brought.

Jeff Green was a young “tweener” forward that could provide the combination of athleticism and shooting that teams desperately look for in the modern NBA. Even back then, there were no traditional big men other than Dwight Howard that would necessitate offloading Green for a big body down low like Perk.

Finally, the Thunder gave up a first round pick to acquire Perk and give up Green (are we absolutely sure this is Presti, guys?)

If Oklahoma City trotted out a small ball lineup of Westbrook, Harden, KD, Green and Ibaka in the 2011 and 2012 playoffs, who knows how the Thunder would have faired.
