My attempt:
Starting 5:
- PG: Dejounte Murray ($16.571 million): A fringe star that gives us great play-making and perimeter defense on a steal of a contract.
- SG: Seth Curry: ($8.497 million): One of the best shooters in the league. He played incredibly for the 76ers. He is a perfect fit with Giannis.
- OG Anunoby ($17.357 million): A near-star "swiss army knife" type player. Will do a little bit of everything for us, and provide great floor spacing and defense.
- PF: Giannis ($42.492 million): In my opinion, he is the best player in the world. I thought about building around Jokic or Embiid as they each have slightly smaller contracts. However, I decided that I should stick with the league's best player.
- C Myles Turner ($18 million): A capable 3-point shooter and an excellent rim protector. He will turn this already great defense into one of the best of all time, while also helping to space the floor for Giannis.
Bench:
- PG Alex Caruso ($9.03 million): The perfect role-playing point guard. He won't take many shots, so he won't get in the way of our stars offensively. He also will provide elite perimeter defense and a secondary playmaker.
- SG: Tyler Herro ($5.722 million): He has proven to be extremely valuable when playing the role of an "instant offense" 6th man. He will be our main scoring threat coming off the bench. I also think that his inconsistent defense, one of his biggest weaknesses, will be easily hidden by a large number of great defenders on this team
- SF: TJ Warren ($1.836 million): He was a great scorer pre-injury. He is now on a extremely small "prove your self" contract. While he does come with some risk, he is easily worth his current contract.
- PF: Jarred Vanderbilt ($4.374 million): He will provide good defense and rebounding, for a player on such a small contract.
- C: JaVale McGee ($6.479 million): Another good interior defender and rebounder, as well as a shockingly efficient scorer. He also has fantastic "per 36" statistics. Per 36 minutes he averages 20.9 points, 15.2 rebounds, and 3.1 blocks.
Reserves:
PG/SG: Austin Reaves ($1.564 million): A solid shooter and defender. He can step up and play well if any of our guards get injured.
SG/SF: Max Strus ($1.815 million): He has proven to be one of the league's best high-volume shooters. He provides insane value for his contract.
PF/C: Thomas Bryant ($1.836 million): He is a pretty decent shooter for a big man, however, his defense is pretty poor. Even still, the floor spacing he provides is very worth it on a vet minimum contract.
C: Bismack Biyombo ($1.836 million): He will be a great third-string center like he was for the suns this season. He is really on our team to provide depth, so he probably wouldn't get minutes unless one or more of our other bigs got injured.
- What would you change in this rotation to make it even better?
- I think I stayed just under the salary cap. According to my math, the total was a little more than 121 million. Let me know if my math was bad
