Announcement: Revised Link and Twitter/X Submission Guidelines

In order to simplify the user experience and reduce title editorialization, we are instituting two new link submission guidelines.

Link + Twitter/X Posts as Self Posts

New Rule: Any links submitted (including those from Twitter/X) must be submitted as a link post. Links submitted as a self post will no longer be allowed.

Rationale: Links submitted as a self post required Redditors to make an additional click to get to the post. These links could also be edited retroactively, which sometimes led to lots and lots of porn.

Link Submissions with Body Text

New Rule: Recently, Reddit implemented a new feature that allows users to include text accompanying a link submission. This field should remain blank unless the user wishes to populate it with an objective summary of an article or include additional information relevant to the posted link. Posts that abuse this field to include editorialization, intellectual property/copyrighted material, memes or unrelated non-sequiturs will be removed.

Rationale: Once again, Reddit has forced a new feature upon us that no one wanted with no ability to turn it off. Via mobile/new, users submitting a link post now also have the ability to also include accompanying text. This field can be used for good (e.g. article summaries, additional context), or bad (e.g. editorialized non-sequiturs that derail a conversation before it begins). The former will be allowed, the latter will be removed.

These are simple edits to the rules that should make things a little easier.
