[Garafolo] The Raiders will interview Steelers QB coach Mike Sullivan for their offensive coordinator job, sources say. Sullivan, who called plays this season after Matt Canada was fired, was an assistant on Tom Coughlin’s Giants staff while Antonio Pierce captained the defense.
Did O.J. Simpson have the best career peak of any RB?
So I was looking at the highest YPG leaders in a single season, and here's the list:
-
OJ Simpson: 143.1 (1973)
-
Jim Brown: 133.1 (1963)
-
Walter Payton: 132.3 (1977)
-
Eric Dickerson: 131.6 (1984)
-
Adrian Peterson: 131.1 (2012)
-
OJ Simpson: 129.8 (1975)
-
Jamal Lewis: 129.1 (2003)
-
Earl Campbell: 128.9 (1980)
-
Barry Sanders: 128.3 (1997)
-
Jim Brown: 127.3 (1958)
There isn't even close to a bigger gap on the top 10 list than the one from #1 to #2.
Other interesting notes:
OJ and Jim Brown were the only two to make this list twice, however Barry Sanders is also tied for 15th all time in the 1994 season (117.7).
Jim Brown has the most (4) appearances on the top 50 all time list
Only 6 RBs have had a season in the top 50 of YPG since the year 2010, and they are:
Adrian Peterson, 131.1 in 2012 (#5)
Derrick Henry, 126.7 in 2020 (#11)
Demarco Murray, 115.3 in 2014 (#23)
Dalvin Cook, 111.2 in 2020 (#30)
Ezekiel Elliot, 108.7 in 2016 (#34)
Johnathan Taylor, 106.6 in 2021 (#45). This is the most recent to crack the top 50 in YPG

[Pelissero] Three-time Pro Bowl TE Zach Ertz is signing with the #Lions, per sources. Ertz will start out on the practice squad, with plans to potentially elevate him for the NFC Championship Game. A boost for the final stretch.
[Drue Tranquill] I caught the snowball. If it didn’t break in my hand, it was getting launched right back at him. We’d beat them in a snowball fight too. Truth is, my four year old throws a meaner snowball than #BillsMafia . #ChiefsKingdom 🔥🔥🔥

[95.7 The Game] Dre Greenlaw said he knows he should’ve gone down on his second INT return, but blamed Fred Warner: “Fred told me I was supposed to get a pick-six, so it was kind of his fault.”
[Underdog NFL] The 49ers are the first team to head to 3 straight NFC Championship games since they did it in 2011-2013. Brock Purdy is now the 5th QB in NFL history to win a playoff game in each of his first 2 seasons.

Regardless of the result, the winner of the BAL-HOU game will break a 10+ Year Conf. Championship Appearance Drought.
The Baltimore Ravens haven’t appeared in an AFC Championship game since their Super Bowl run in 2012, 11 seasons ago.
The Houston Texans have never appeared in an AFC Championship game, and are currently playing their 22nd Season as a franchise.
The Ravens are in the midst of their longest wait as a franchise, (considering it’s only 11 years is frankly impressive, all things considered)
But Houston? Houston has been hurting for a droughtbreaker.
While the Lions and Commanders 32-year droughts are longer in terms of a single franchise droughts, Houston the city has been waiting since the 1979 season, when the Oilers made it.
A massive 44-year season drought, by far the longest for any active NFL city
